Thanks to modern techniques in sedation dental phobic patients are now able to get not just the essential oral healthcare they need, but also the smile they’ve always wanted. At Adams Dental in North London we use sedation dentistry to help phobic, nervous, and anxious patients overcome their fears so that they can visit the dentist without anxiety.
Dr Ricky Adams, principal dentist at our North London clinic, is Dental Phobia certified, and the whole team is very experienced in working with nervous patients. We are committed to providing the highest-quality care in a stress-free, pain-free manner.
There are a number of options available to nervous patients at our North London practice, and we will be happy to talk you through them all in a relaxed and calm environment, away from the dentist’s chair. Hypnotherapy and the use of in-chair entertainment (enabling you to listen to your favourite music or podcast, or watch a film during treatment) can help a lot of nervous patients to relax.
With sedation dental phobic patients can take an easy extra step towards relaxed and stress-free treatment. Under this option, sedative drugs are used to ensure that you feel peaceful and unstressed for the duration of your treatment.
Unlike general anaesthetic used for surgery in hospitals, with sedation dental patients remaining conscious and so able to cooperate with their clinician’s requests. However, they will be in a deep state of relaxation, will feel no pain or discomfort, and will remember very little about treatment afterwards.
If you opt for treatment under sedation, you will need a friend or family member to accompany you to your appointment and look after you until the sedative drugs wear off – we will provide you with full advice before starting treatment.
Thanks to sedation dental phobia could soon be a thing of the past.
